Conflict over Online Casino Marketing in Canada Continues 26 Oct 2006 Politicians in Canada called for anti online casino legislation that will ban advertisement of online gambling services. The reason for their claims was that online casino gambling is too accessible and that the public has uncontrolled access to these 'hazardous' sites. The voices sounded similar to the ones heard in the Senate when the new Internet Gambling Unlawful Act was addressed. While the United States focused on the financial relationship between online casino operators and other providers, Canada seems to use advertising as a lever against the online gambling industry. New voices are now being heard across Canada pointing out the hypocrisy of these claims. While online casino advertising is being condemned by certain people, government sponsored gambling is being massively advertised. National lotteries, for example, are constantly being promoted and aggressively marketed, even more than online casino sites are. The fact that some gambling is considered as legitimate by the state, and online casino gambling is the regarded as 'the root of all evil' does not smell right. This has all been said before, but now one of the biggest men in the Canadian online casino industry is making himself heard publicly. The online casino firm CEO has launched a counter-campaign in light of the latest calls to ban online casino advertisement. The real result of such action will be hurting the income of advertisement firms across the country, and will not even bother the online gambling industry. Serious thinking should be taken place before any legal action is discussed, that's for sure.
